This will be the first independent cricket event in South America.
In a recent development, Cricket West Indies (CWI) has announced a new five-team T20 tournament called Global Super League. It will be launched in Guyana and will be played from November 26 to December 7. The tournament is expected to be a direct competition to the now-eliminated Champions League.
Notably, the tournament is expected to feature the champions of the Caribbean Premier League (CPL), along with a county team owned by Delhi Capitals.
This will be South America’s first independent cricket event and will feature the Saint Lucia Kings, the current winners of the CPL, along with four other “established” T20 teams from around the world.
According to ESPNcricinfo, Hampshire, whose majority shares were recently bought by the GMR group, which owns Delhi Capitals, and are three-time England T20 Blast champions, are also among the invited teams.

New Champions League rival announced
The Global T20 Super League will have 11 matches, with each team participating in four group stage matches. The two best teams will advance to the final. All games will take place at the Guyana National Stadium in Providence. A press release mentioned that this event is expected to be held annually, with different teams invited from around the world each season.
“The passion for cricket in Guyana rivals that of fans anywhere, and we look forward to celebrating our love for the game and our rich, vibrant country both with those who visit us in person and with those watching from around the world,” Clive Lloyd, Global Super The league president was quoted in a statement.
The Global Super League will coincide with the Abu Dhabi T10, scheduled for November 21 to December 2, as well as Bangladesh’s tour of the Caribbean, which will begin with test matches from November 22 to December 4, followed by three ODI from December 8 to December 4. 12 and three T20Is from December 16 to 20.
