Jasprit Bumrah was breathing fire in the net session ahead of the Boxing Day Test in Melbourne. He bowled at full speed and troubled almost every batsman who faced him in the nets, showing why he has been in such good form.

However, the best part came when Rishabh Pant got a chance against Bumrah in the nets, and the speedster continued to bowl at full pace. According to a report in the Times of India (TOI), Rishabh was at his cheeky best when Bumrah attacked him with a long delivery that skidded after the delivery.

“And the batter [batter] ko match mai ready perfect dete ho, na practise mein (you don’t allow the batsman to prepare in the match or in practice), Pant said.

Bumrah had a wry smile on his face after hearing Pant’s comments, and the batsman absolutely got it right, as the Indian speedster has literally been unplayable this entire year. He continued to bowl at full speed and chatted with other batsmen, especially the two openers, KL Rahul and Yashasvi Jaiswal, who were also beaten by Bumrah’s precision during the nets.

Indian captain Rohit Sharma has given him extended spells to get wickets and break partnerships. To his credit, Bumrah has done the job almost every time and is the main reason why India is still alive in the series.

He was instrumental in India’s epic victory in Perth in the opening match. The tracks in Melbourne have changed lately with pacers receiving more assistance from the deck due to the curators leaving more grass, so Bumrah’s role will again be huge in the Boxing Day Test.
