What happened to Shubman Gill?
On Saturday, November 16, several media outlets reported that Shubman Gill had suffered a serious injury that will keep him out of some matches of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25.
It was reported that Gill suffered an injury to his left thumb while playing in the stands during the simulation of the match against India A and felt pain after the incident.
The BCCI medical team immediately sent him for scans and it was reported that he had suffered a fracture in his left thumb.
A fractured thumb takes approximately 14 days to heal and there were hopes he could recover in time for the second Test, which will be played in Adelaide on December 6.
‘There is no fracture; It’s a tiny fabric.
On Tuesday, November 19, RevSportz journalist Rohit Juglan gave positive news about Shubman Gill.
It revealed that the batsman had not fractured his thumb and only a small tissue had been affected. Shubman Gill will reportedly be fully fit to compete in a week’s time and will take part in the tour game against the Prime Minister’s XI, meaning Shubman Gill will skip only the first Test in Perth and will be ready for the last four games.
The tour match between India and the Prime Minister’s XI is scheduled to begin on November 30 at Manuka Oval in Canberra.
“Update on Shubhman Gill: There is no fracture; it is a tiny tissue that has been affected and that tissue is directly related to the grip. The maximum time it will take is 1 week, it will probably be part of that Canberra game if not. It will be preventative “wrote the RevSportz journalist in X.

I prefer to play matches, even if they are two days or three days – Ravi Shastri
India has faced heavy criticism from several pundits for not playing any warm-up matches before the start of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy and the latest to join the bandwagon is Ravi Shastri.
The former India head coach criticized India for skipping warm-ups and said the Indian team should have played at least one full warm-up match ahead of the five-match Test series.
“The question is always: ‘How strong will the opposition be?’ That’s the first question you ask (planning a road game). I prefer to play games, even if they last two days or three days. With the time India had, they could have thought about that, but at the end of the day, it’s the team management that understands best,” Shastri said (via The West Australian).
“They know how tired the players are – they just came out of a series against New Zealand, they also played one-day cricket, so they thought this was the best preparation… time will tell,” Shastri added.
Notably, India was scheduled to play an intra-team match against India A, but it was canceled and replaced with a simulation match.
