Mohsin Naqvi

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi has taken a major decision to improve cricket in Pakistan. According to Pakistani media reports, it is learnt that the board chief has handed over the cricket matter to former captain Waqar Younis.

It has been learnt that Mohsin Naqvi will give Waqar Younis an important position in the Pakistan Cricket Board. The former captain will take care of all matters related to cricket in Pakistan. Naqvi, on the other hand, will take care of all administrative matters and will not be involved in cricket.

Pakistan Cricket Board Chairman Mohsin Naqvi has been doing his best to improve cricket in Pakistan. He has taken major steps after the team’s debacle in the 2024 T20 World Cup. The board chief mentioned that he would perform surgery on the team and since then, he has taken some bold steps.

Following his statement, the Pakistan Cricket Board sacked Wahab Riaz and Abdul Razzaq as team selectors and handed over the authority to head coaches Gary Kirsten and Jason Gillespie.

As if this was not enough, the Pakistan Cricket Board also denied issuing NOC certificates to Naseem Shah, Babar Azam, Shaheen Afridi and Mohammad Rizwan to play in the overseas league. It also mentioned that they will not tolerate any indiscipline in the team.

The Pakistan Cricket Board has also been working hard to improve cricket at the grassroots level. The last few months have been very difficult for the Pakistan National Cricket Team as it has performed very below par and has faced a lot of criticism for its poor results, especially in the 2024 T20 World Cup.

Pakistan, who were finalists in the last T20 World Cup, faced a group stage elimination in the 2024 T20 World Cup. They suffered a shambolic defeat to the United States of America in the league stage and then also lost to the Indian National Cricket Team, getting knocked out of the tournament in the group stage itself.

Pakistan cricket team to take on Bangladesh

The next match against the Bangladesh national cricket team will be the Test series. The Shan Masood-led team will host the opposition in the two-match Test series in August and September this year and it will be a great opportunity to make a fresh start.

The series will be played from August 21 to September 3. There were recent reports that there would be some major changes in the team as some of the big names would be retiring and the Pakistan Cricket Board wants to include new faces in the squad.

Players like Faheem Ashraf, Mohammad Wasim Jr, Saim Ayub and Nauman Ali are unlikely to retain their place in the squad for the two-match Test series. Apart from this, it is also learnt that young players Mohammad Huraira and Sahibzada Farhan are likely to be included in the squad.
