Former Pakistan pacer Mohammad Amir spoke about the defeat the team suffered in the Test series against Australia. He said that although Shan Masood’s army lost the series, they should learn from it, adding that the captain is doing a great job.

Pakistan suffered a 3-0 whitewash at the hands of Australia in the Test series. Their disappointing run continued as they lost their 17th Test in a row. It has been more than three decades since the Shan Masood-led team won the series in Australia and this time they had a big chance.

But it was not to be as they suffered another disappointing loss in the series. Before the series against Australia, Pakistan had named a new captain in Shan Masood and were expected to perform better.

Pakistan had a decent performance this time. They even outplayed Australia at crucial moments, but it was their fault as they failed to capitalize on the opportunities they had and couldn’t maintain the momentum they had.

Pakistan suffered a crushing defeat in Perth when Australia beat them by 369 runs. In the second Test in Melbourne, they put pressure on Australia and came close to chasing the target but lost the game by 79 runs. The Sydney Test gave real hope to the fans as they were ahead of their opponents but suffered a terrible collapse and lost the game by 8 wickets.

Mohammad Amir analyzed the positive aspects of the team despite the defeat. Apart from urging people to support Shan Masood, he also praised Aamer Jamal for his sensational performances. Taking X account of him, he stated:

“Winning and losing is part of the game! We may have lost the cricket series against Australia, but let’s learn from it and come back stronger. Shan Masood is doing great, so let’s support him. Amir Jamal was brilliant and we should appreciate his efforts!

Aamer Jamal was one of the main reasons why Pakistan put pressure on Australia at times. He came up big and contributed equally well with both the bat and the ball. The pacer picked 18 wickets and also scored 143 runs, earning him the Player of the Match award in the third Test.

AUS vs PAK: We are learning things the hard way – Shan Masood

Pakistan captain Shan Masood spoke about the series loss against Australia. He admitted that they made mistakes and the opposition took advantage of it. The captain added that they are learning things the hard way. Speaking after the match, he explained:

“A bit similar to Melbourne. We are learning things the hard way. We have to look at many positive aspects. When we face Australia on their terms, there will be a response like yesterday. They went for wickets and are quality bowlers. We made some mistakes that left the door open and they made the most of it.”

Shan Masood further added that his team needs cash to grab opportunities and only they can improve. He expected them to perform better in the series against Bangladesh. He added:

“If we can make those small improvements, take advantage of those opportunities, turn those fifties into hundreds, turn those three fers into five-fers, small improvements. If we can move forward with us, we have 10 months to play our next Test match, so there is enough time for the players to come back and re-introduce themselves. Hopefully, when we come together as a team in August to play Bangladesh, we can continue playing cricket the same way.”

Pakistan will now play Test cricket in August later this year. They will play a series against Bangladesh and hope to return.
