Shaheen Afridi Dismisses Babar Azam

Pakistan cricketer Shaheen Afridi put in a great effort to dismiss Babar Azam during the Champions Cup 2024 match. The match between the Stallions and the Lions is being held at the Iqbal Stadium in Faisalabad.

Babar Azam, who has been going through a rough patch, returned to form and made sure to help his team post a good total on the board. The right-hander came to bat at No. 3 and made sure to take his time and get back to scoring runs after going through a lean phase.

Babar was in fine form as he played some accurate shots in his innings and made sure to silence all his critics. The Pakistan national cricket team captain played a vital innings and put in a decent effort with the bat for his team.

Babar scored a vital half-century for his team and the way he was batting, it looked like he would go on and score a vital ton for his team. But his stay at the crease was cut short by his Pakistan teammate Shaheen Afridi who got him out in the 35th over.

Shaheen Afridi bowled a short ball to which Babar attempted a drag shot. He failed to connect with it properly as he tried to get over the boundary but Faisal Akram caught it in the deep and took a brilliant catch to get the batsman out.

Babar played a vital innings of 76 runs off 79 balls. The right-hander hit 9 fours in his innings and batted at a strike rate of 96.2. The right-hander also added 144 runs in partnership with Tayyab Tahir (74) that helped the team surpass the 200-run mark.

Babar has not had a great run with the Pakistan national cricket team. The batsman was last seen in action during the Test series against the Bangladesh national cricket team. People expected him to take the international stage by storm but he failed to live up to those expectations.

Babar Azam scored a mere 64 runs in four innings at an average of 16 and a strike rate of 43.53 with a top score of 31 in the Test series against the Bangladesh National Cricket Team. Notably, the right-handed bowler has not scored a single half-century in Test cricket since January 2023.

Now that Babar Azam has scored runs in the 2024 Champions Cup, it will be a big boost for him and the Pakistan National Cricket Team. The right-handed bowler would want to maintain his form in international cricket and help the team win the three-match Test series against the England National Cricket Team.

Babar will be hoping, first of all, to continue his fine form in the ongoing Champions Cup. He will be keen to silence his critics with his bat. If he fails to get the ton, the right-hander will be left speechless.
