The weather could have a big impact on the three Group A games scheduled for the next few days in Florida. The weather forecast ahead of the crucial matches of the ongoing ICC T20 World Cup 2024 is not promising at all.

A tropical disturbance has reportedly caused a rare flash flooding emergency across much of South Florida, including Broward County, where the games are based in Lauderhill. Torrential rain hit the region on Wednesday (June 12) and officials have already warned residents to stay away from “life-threatening flooding.”

Due to the alarming weather conditions, a total of 284 flights to or from Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport were canceled as of Wednesday night. In such a scenario, it wouldn’t be too surprising if all three games are not held in Florida in the coming days.

The venue has already witnessed a failure as the match between Nepal and Sri Lanka earlier this week could not take place. The next three games at the venue are: United States vs. Ireland, Canada vs. India and Ireland vs. Pakistan. With the forecast suggesting heavy rain, all three games are in danger of being lost.

Pakistan in danger of being eliminated:

Pakistan could be the worst-hit team if the remaining games in Florida actually go away. India has already booked its place in the Super 8s in Group A, while Pakistan, United States, Canada and Ireland are vying for the only remaining spot. Of the four teams, the United States leads with four points, while Pakistan and Canada have two points from three matches. Ireland, on the other hand, have lost both of their matches so far.

Pakistan can advance to the next round if it wins its last match against Ireland and the latter manages to beat the United States. However, if either of those two games fail, the United States will advance to the Super 8s. There are no reserve days for the group stage of the T20 World Cup and Pakistan will desperately hope that it does not rain in the upcoming games.
