‘Pakistan will beat Australia in Australia’: Mohammad Rizwan’s overconfident claim

Star wicketkeeper-batsman Mohammad Rizwan is full of confidence after being named the new white-ball captain of the Pakistan National Cricket Team.

Mohammad Rizwan has made a bold claim ahead of the start of his tenure as full-time captain, saying he will lead Pakistan to a series victory over Australia Down Under.

Mohammad Rizwan will begin his tenure as captain in the Australia series

Rizwan will begin his tenure as captain in the ODI series against the Australians. The matches between Pakistan and Australia will be played on November 4, 8 and 10. After that, the two teams will face each other in the three-match T20I series on November 14, 16 and 18.

Pakistan has been a terrible country to tour when it comes to visiting Australia. The last time they won a bilateral ODI series in Australia was in 2002, when the Waqar Younis-led team beat the Ricky Ponting-led team.

Furthermore, the Men in Green’s previous ODI victory over the Australians on Australian soil came in 2017, and the T20I victory in 2010. In the last ODI and T20I series between Australia and Pakistan Down Under, the hosts won 4-1 and 2-0.

There is no doubt that we have faced difficulties in Australia – Mohammad Rizwan

In a video shared on the official Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) X site, Rizwan admitted that Pakistan National Cricket has gone through difficult times in Australia. However, he urged Pakistani fans to continue believing in the team this time as they travel to Australia. Mohammad Rizwan stated:

“There is no doubt that we have had difficulties in Australia, because when you look at the past results, the results tell us that we have had some problems, but I think the team that comes there will give us hope.”

(There is no doubt that we have faced difficulties in Australia because when you look at past results, they show that we had some problems there. But I believe that the team going now will meet the expectations of the nation.)

Inshallah, Australia will defeat Australia – Mohammad Rizwan

Optimistic Mohammad Rizwan further said that they came very close to winning the matches in Australia on their last tour but in the end they fell a little short. He stated:

“The last series, when we opened in Australia, it was like we were about to win the game, we were very close and we lost.” he added. (In the last series we played in Australia, we could almost win every game, but we lost very narrowly).”

Rizwan added that they have noticed certain things and patterns from their previous tours and will use those lessons to achieve a historic series win in Australia this time.

“We have noticed some things and let’s work on them or get something positive out of them. Inshallah, Australia will beat Australia.” (We have noticed some things and we will work on them when we go there, taking the positive out of it. Inshallah, we will beat Australia in Australia.)
