Punjab Kings (PBKS) suffered a significant setback when Rahul Chahar left the field due to an injury during the ongoing match against Chennai Super Kings (CSK). Rahul Chahar injured his jaw during match 53 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 in Dharamshala on May 5.
Punjab captain Sam Curran decided to bowl after winning the toss at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium. The home team chose the same team from the previous match. CSK made two changes with Mitchell Santner and Tushar Deshpande replacing Deepak Chahar and Mustafizur Rahman.

The incident took place in the fifth ball of the 12th over in Chennai Super Kings’ innings. All-rounder Moeen Ali played a long delivery outside off towards the back point off the bowling of fast bowler Kagiso Rabada. Rahul Chahar tried to stop him but he couldn’t pick up enough pace, which led to the injury.
