Each member would have equal power – Mohsin Naqvi
PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi emphasized that each of the seven members will have equal authority without an appointed chairman. Naqvi assured that the selection of committee members was carefully considered based on several factors.
“We have reorganized this selection committee, this [selection committee] It will consist of seven members, but what is different this time is that there will be no selection committee for the president, each member will have the same power as the other,” Mohsin Naqvi told the media in Lahore.
“The decision would be [decided] by majority, they should debate and talk among themselves in order to reach a better conclusion. The previous structure of the committee was different, but this one, I assure you, each member was chosen after considering multiple factors,” he added.
They will surely give good results – Mohsin Naqvi
The president clarified that although two or three coordinators will be appointed, they will not have the right to vote within the commission. He highlighted that the role of the president should be separate from the selection process to ensure effective management of the team.
“This committee will decide every decision from now on. They are our key management players who will take decisions and I am sure they will give good results,” said Mohsin Naqvi.
“The president should not have any role in the selection process, we are the management and our job is to manage the team. I am hopeful that these new members will give them positive results,” he added.
Naqvi also revealed plans to appoint the head coach and coaching panel within the next four-five days. Also, the selection committee will decide Shaheen Afridi’s tenure as T20I captain after the conclusion of the national camp in Kakul on April 8.
Pakistan cricket team’s upcoming matches include a five-match T20I series against New Zealand. The first three matches will be played in Rawalpindi from April 18 to 25, and the last two matches in Lahore on April 25 and 27. Before the T20 World Cup, they are scheduled to compete against England.
