THE LOWDOWN
PESHAWAR ZALMI
- Three straight victories have seen Peshawar Zalmi move up into the Pakistan Super League’s top three on six points, passing 200 runs scored in consecutive fixtures batting first in the process.
- Such firepower is proving hard for opponents to contain, with captain Babar Azam leading from the front and showing his undeniable class last time out with a breath-taking unbeaten 111 from 63 balls
LAHORE QALANDARS
- Despite having lost all six of their 2024 Pakistan Super League games to date, Lahore Qalandars are still not entirely out of the play-off equation, with fourth-placed Islamabad United currently only four points.
- They can still get to eight points with four league fixtures remaining, but they’ll have to do it on the road in Rawalpindi and Karachi, with the Lahore leg of this year’s tournament coming to an end.
THE PREDICTION
Two teams on totally opposite ends of the form scale meet in Rawalpindi and whilst T20 cricket can always throw up surprise results at any given time, it’s hard to see such an occurrence here. Peshawar are looking extremely hot right now, especially from a batting point of view and with Lahore Qalandars’ bowling attack a shadow of what they were last year with no Rashid Khan and now no Haris Rauf, expect Peshawar to cash in and complete a league double over the reigning PSL champions in 2024.
TIP: PESHAWAR ZALMI TO WIN
