‘Players don’t train’: Kevin Pietersen sheds light on the decline of cricket in Pakistan

The Men in Green have not had a great time in international cricket in recent years.

Of late, the Pakistan cricket team has not achieved any significant results and has also suffered some embarrassing losses.

The Men in Green have not had a great time in international cricket in recent years, having recently been beaten 0-2 by Bangladesh in a home test series. The Bangla Tigers created history by sweeping Pakistan in a Test series for the first time.

This was also the first time Pakistan had not recorded a win in their last ten Tests at home; his previous victory dates back to February 2021.

It was extended to 11 after suffering another historic defeat when they conceded the first game of the three-match Test series between Pakistan and England in a rather disappointing manner. In the process, Pakistan became the first team to lose a Test match despite scoring over 500 runs in the first innings.

Kevin Pietersen sheds light on the decline of cricket in Pakistan

Following recent setbacks in Pakistan cricket, former head coach Mickey Arthur expressed concern over the team’s downward spiral. Sharing his views on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), Arthur highlighted the issues as a potential cause of the team’s disappointing performances.

Echoing the same line, former England batsman Kevin Pietersen, who played briefly in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) for three seasons with Quetta Gladiators, echoed Arthur’s sentiments. Pietersen also highlighted potential causes for concern and acknowledged the abundance of raw talent in the country.

“Since my time in the PSL, players do not train properly and there is too much emotion involved in winning or losing. There is no consistency off the field, so how do you expect it on the field? And I agree, the talent is UNREAL!” Pietersen wrote in his response to Arthur’s post.
