Five-time Indian Premier League (IPL) champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) will look to history as they aim for a record sixth title in the upcoming season. Also, the confirmed availability of their former skipper and icon MS Dhoni for another edition will give a huge morale boost in their efforts to lift the coveted trophy again.

Before the auction, CSK management decided to retain five stars for a total expenditure of Rs 65 million and entered the auction with Rs 55 million.

Their first purchase in Jeddah was to bring back their New Zealand opener Devon Conway and they further strengthened the batting attack by next bringing in national star Rahul Tripathi.

In CSK’s third purchase, they activated their only RTM card to get back Rachin Ravindra after PBKS had initially secured the New Zealand all-rounder. The CSK management also reunited their all-rounder duo of Jadeja and Ashwin after buying the latter. The addition of Afghanistan spin sensation Noor Ahmad seemed to be a masterstroke alongside Ash-Jaddu, given Chepauk’s spin tracks.

In the pace bowling department, CSK added Khaleel Ahmed to pair with their Sri Lankan retainer Matheesha Pathirana.
