Prithvi Shaw and MCA feud intensifies as batsman responds with ‘half the facts’

Mumbai batsman Prithvi Shaw has criticized the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) for its allegations against the batsman. All this came after the young batsman was dropped from the team’s squad for the 2024-25 Vijay Hazare Trophy.

The Mumbai Cricket Association recently named the Mumbai team for the upcoming Vijay Hazare Trophy 2024-25. Young batsman Prithvi Shaw was not in the team, and the omission did not sit well with him as he lashed out at the association for their snub in the 50-over tournament.

Shaw posted his List A record on social media and questioned his snub by the team. He also mentioned what else he needs to see and added that he will return no matter what happens against him.

After Shaw’s post, the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) downplayed the batsman’s emotional post. An MCA official told PTI that the player was expelled from the team for disciplinary reasons and fitness issues, which became known during the 2024 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.

The official mentioned that Shaw regularly missed training sessions after showing up at the team hotel at “six in the morning” and being gone most of the night. Furthermore, some of the older members of the team complained about the batsman related to his attitude.

But now the batsman has hit back at MCA with the cryptic post. Shaw shared an Instagram story in which it was written: “If you don’t fully understand it, don’t talk about it. Too many people have full opinions, with half the facts.”

Here is the story:

Shaw, of late, has come under massive scrutiny for his off-field antics and on-field performances. In the domestic circuit this year, it was a terrible outing for him and the selectors had every right to rule him out for the 2024-25 Vijay Hazare Trophy based on his form.

Prithvi Shaw was torrid with the bat in Mumbai’s domestic season and failed to score in the Ranji Trophy, Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.

He was dropped from the team midway through the Ranji Trophy after playing 4 matches in which he scored 59 runs. In the 2024-25 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, he scored 197 runs at an average of 21.88 with the best of 49 runs, which came against Vidarbha in the quarter-finals.

Shaw also went unsold in the Indian Premier League (IPL) auction. The batsman has witnessed a massive decline in the game. He was one of the few batsmen to reach a century on his Test debut, but after that, things have not gone well for him.

He last played for India in 2021 and is now nowhere near the scene. The road back will be very hard for him and it remains to be seen whether he will be able to return or not.
