R Ashwin returns as India playing XI for Adelaide Test announced by Michael Vaughan

Former England national cricket team player Michael Vaughan has named his Indian XI for the second Test against the Australia national cricket team. He also predicted the result of the match that will be played starting December 6 in Adelaide.

The second Test between India and Australia is just a dream away. The visitors have taken a 1-0 lead in the series after their superb performance in the first match at Perth’s Optus Stadium. They won the match by a huge margin of 295 runs under the leadership of Jasprit Bumrah.

India played the first match without the services of Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill. However, these two are likely to return for the second game, and what has kept many excited is what the Indian XI will be for the second game. Also, one of the things that will be on the notice will be India’s batting order.

Captain Rohit Sharma, before the second Test, mentioned that he will not change the opening combination of KL Rahul and Yashasvi Jaiswal because of the way they batted in Perth. He stressed that he will bat somewhere in the middle order as they are focused on winning.

I would be surprised if Ashwin didn’t play – Michael Vaughan

With the match around the corner, Michael Vaughan gave his opinion on India’s XI. He backed KL Rahul and Yashasvi Jaiswal to open the innings and believes Shubman Gill will return for the team at number 3. The batsman missed the last match due to injury.

Vaughan then picked Virat Kohli at number 4 and said Rohit Sharma would bat at number 5, followed by Rishabh Pant at number 6. He also picked Nitish Kumar Reddy at number 7 and backed Ravichandran Ashwin to play, saying he would be surprised if the all-rounder didn’t play.

Vaughan also backed India to keep the pace of the bowling attack the same as in the last match. Speaking on the Club Prairie Fire podcast, he explained:

“I think Rohit will bat in the middle. I think they will keep the opening combination as it was. I mean, KL will play very well. So I think he will also stay at the top of the order with Yashasvi Jaiswal. Shubman will come in with three. Virat will bat with four. I think Rohit will come in with five and Rishabh with six.

“And then seven will be maybe Nitish Reddy. I would be surprised if Ashwin doesn’t play. Ashwin’s record in Adelaide is fantastic. So I would be surprised if he doesn’t play. And then obviously the seamers will be more or less the same. “

I think whoever bats first will win by 141 runs – Michael Vaughan

Michael Vaughan also predicted the outcome of the match. While calling the Australian national cricket team the favourite, he said the team that bats first will win the game by a margin of 141 runs. He added:

“But if it’s true that the Australians are the favourites, I’m not sure the bookies are right. I think whoever bats first will win the game. I think whoever bats first will win by 141 runs.”
