Rahul Dravid spoke after Rajasthan Royals’s defeat against Punjab Kings on Sunday.
Rajasthan Royals chief coach (RR), Rahul Dravid, has said that the bowling players of his team must be blamed equally of his hitters after his defeat of 10 races against Punjab Kings (PBK) in an IPL 2025 match on Sunday.
Rajasthan Royals, which have already been eliminated, have now lost 10 games in IPL 2025 and are languishing in the ninth place with six points of 13 games. Eight of his last nine defeats have arrived while the totals pursue. Rajasthan’s real were also in gainable positions in a few of these persecutions, but ended up surrendering to the opposition at the end.
With regard to his bowling alley, England’s pacemaker Jofra Archer has endured an inconsistent career in IPL 2025 and also has Sandeep Sharma. Both have often been at the receiving end by granting too many races. Tushar undand has also been disappointing.
Rahul Dravid in the disappointing RR season
“We have approached, but we have not been able to finish the work. It has been one of those types of seasons in which you always feel with the ball that we probably give 15-20 additional races and then you have in some really good positions to win the games, but we have not been able to finish the work and a little in the order of the lower measurement, only that we have only been able to click and get the big shots,” we have not been able to end in the work of Sundays.
“I mean, five games have passed now where the margins really have one or two hits that you need in that phase, which, we have not been able to do. Therefore, it is not that we have been losing too many Wickts, we still have five below today, but we have not been able to reach those shots,” he added.
‘It makes no sense to blame the batter’: Rahul Dravid
An instance of Rajasthan Royals that did not chase a total was against Lucknow Super Giants, when they were asked to chase 181. Rajasthan Royals needed 25 races to win 18 balls with eight WICKETS in his hand. However, they failed to pursue the total, since they were restricted to 178/5.
“It makes no sense to simply blame the batter. I think that with the ball either, to be honest, I did not think it was a 220 Wickt, it was about a 195, 200 wickt, and we gave 20 additional races. If we look at the numbers, we probably have not been good enough with the ball. Both in taking wickets and to control races. We are chasing 200-220 each game.”

Rahul Dravid also hinted that there could be changes in Rajasthan Royals before IPL 2026. “Our batters still, especially the openers, have been giving us good beginnings, but we have not been able to finish the job,” he said.
“We will have to work on it for next year. A little in the field too. Sometimes you look at a tournament and see only three victories, but if you look at the five nearby losses. It is not an excuse, but you cannot lose the five nearby games. We have good bats. In a year they will improve even more. Maybe in the ticket, we will have to do something to improve,” the former captain of India.
The side led by Sanju Samson will seek to finish IPL 2025 in a maximum when they face Chennai Super Kings in Delhi on Tuesday (May 20).
