Rahul Dravid to lead panel discussion on inclusion of cricket in 2028 Los Angeles Olympics

Former India head coach Rahul Dravid is all set to attend the panel discussions on cricket’s inclusion in the Olympics. The event will be held to celebrate cricket’s inclusion in the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics, titled: ‘Cricket in the Olympics: Dawn of a New Era.’

The debate is scheduled to take place on the evening of July 28 at India House, located in Lavillette Park. India House is notably the first Indian country house to be featured at the Olympic Games. It was brought to us by Dream Sports and was designed by the Reliance Foundation in collaboration with the Indian Olympic Association.

The panel discussions on cricket’s inclusion in the Olympic Games will be attended by International Cricket Council CEO Geoff Allardice, 2024 T20 World Cup-winning coach and former India head coach Rahul Dravid. They will be joined by Harsh Jain, CEO and co-founder of Dream Sports.

The panel, which will include Rahul Dravid, Geoff Allardice and Harsh Jain, will explore the prospects for cricket’s inclusion in the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles. The main topic of discussion will be the growth and opportunities for cricket in existing and new markets, and fostering the global passion of cricket fans.

Speaking about the panel, ICC CEO Geoff Allardice said that their focus is on the development of cricket. He stressed that adding cricket to the Olympics is an important step for the sport. He commented (as quoted by TOI):

“We continue to focus on developing cricket around the world, attracting more fans to the game, opportunities for players to compete at the highest level and now bringing cricket to the Olympic sporting stakeholder group. The inclusion of cricket in the Olympic Games marks an important step and we hope that Paris 2024 will be a further boost to this journey.”

Harsh Jain, CEO and Co-Founder, Dream Sports, said that improving the sport is their primary focus and seeing cricket at the Olympics is a positive step. Speaking about the development, he explained:

Cricket was recently included in the Olympics. The game will hold its much-awaited edition in Los Angeles in 2028. It was in 1900 when cricket was a part of the Olympics. The inclusion of cricket in the Olympics will be a big step forward. The ICC has been taking all possible steps to popularize the game in all parts of the world. They recently hosted the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 in the USA and it got a positive response from the fans.
