A Rajasthan Royals (RR) pacer has suffered a major setback due to injury, which has ruled him out of the ongoing ODI and the upcoming World Test Championship series. He did not play the first game of the series and will return after an untimely blow.

Left-arm pacer Nandre Burger has been out of the ongoing Ireland series and will also miss the impending two-match Test series against Bangladesh later this month due to a lower back stress reaction. He has been removed from the team and will fly home for further evaluation.

“Proteas men’s fast bowler Nandre Burger has been ruled out for the remainder of the One-Day International (ODI) series against Ireland and the upcoming Test tour in Bangladesh due to a lower back stress reaction. The 29-year-old experienced discomfort in his lower back and subsequent scans revealed the injury. He will return home and undergo further evaluations. His replacement for the two-match Test series against Bangladesh will be announced in due course.” Read the official statement.

He was part of the team but was not part of the XI during the first ODI between Ireland and South Africa in Abu Dhabi. South Africa would have given him a chance at some point in the series, but he will no longer participate in any series.
