Amidst all the criticism for his inconsistent performance, Assam batsman Riyan Parag has given a perfect response to all his criticism by smashing a hundred wrestlers in the Ranji Trophy match against Kerala.
Parag played a total of 116 runs off 125 balls which included 16 fours and 3 sixes. Parag has had to face a lot of attacks on social media and critics consider him an “overrated” player.
Riyan Parag posted a video of his celebration on his social media and claimed that it was his first hundred in front of his parents in the caption. Riyan Parag wrote, “The first one with mom and dad watching.” However, a social media user quoted the video of him and wrote about the time Parag was wasting on the umpire and the bowler.
The social media user wrote, “The bowling team and the umpire are waiting for him to finish his 30+ celebrations,” however, Riyan Parag gave a befitting reply to the user. Parag, while replying to the user, mentioned that he was not wasting the bowler’s time as he had no ball to bowl. Parag wrote in his response: “But what was the player going to throw the next ball with? Your stupid brain?

Riyan Parag’s hundred helped Assam finish with 231/7 on Day 3 of the Ranji Trophy match against Kerala. Assam is still 188 runs away and will want to get as close to the opponent’s first innings score on Day 4 as possible.
Parag was also not picked in India’s squad for the five-match Test series against England, starting January 25. However, his Rajasthan Royals teammate Dhruv Jurel was selected for the Indian team.
Parag has always been in the headlines for his poor performance despite getting several opportunities. Parag gradually failed to perform in the Indian Premier League for Rajasthan Royals and scored only 78 runs in seven games at an average of 13:00. Parag has played a total of 54 matches for the Royals in the IPL and has scored 600 runs at an average of 16.22.
However, Riyan Parag performed well in domestic cricket and scored 1583 runs in 26 first-class matches with 2 hundreds and 10 half-centuries.
Riyan Parag is seen as the next generation player and some fans on social media want to see him in the Indian cricket team. If Parag performs well in the Ranji Trophy and IPL 2024, then there is a chance that he will be picked for the Indian team.
Riyan Parag is a very good fielder and can also bowl a few overs with the ball. With the T20 World Cup 2024 coming up, selectors will be keen to give opportunities to youngsters and Riyan Parag will be one of them.
