Former Pakistan cricketer Rashid Latif has spoken about Virat Kohli’s poor performance in the T20 World 2024 semi-final against England. He made a brutal comment, saying that the batsman must understand that batting is not easy as it is not a Bengaluru surface.

Virat Kohli’s torrid run continued in the T20 World Cup 2024 as the batsman posted another low score in the tournament. The opening batsman also failed to get going in the semi-final against England, which took place at the Providence Stadium in Guyana on Thursday.

Virat Kohli, who has been going through a rough patch in the 2024 T20 World Cup, was expected to set the stage on fire in the semi-final. Since he was the important player, a lot of bets were placed on him but it was another horror outing for him as he failed to get past the 10-run mark again.

Virat Kohli again tried to be aggressive at the top but the move backfired again. The batsman hit a magnificent six and then decided to do it again. But he couldn’t because Reece Topley castled him and the batsman had to make a long walk to the pavilion, after having scored 9 runs.

Virat Kohli’s overall performance in the ongoing T20 World Cup 2024 has been torrid. In total, in 7 innings, he has failed to get going and has only managed 75 runs. The batsman has surely been very substandard and his poor performances at the top have not allowed India to get off to quick starts.

Speaking about his innings in the semi-final, Rashid Latif claimed that Virat Kohli went off his plan and that he needs to understand that the pitches are not easy to bat on. Speaking to Caught Behind, he explained:

“Virat Kohli went off his game plan. This is not a Bengaluru pitch, it’s a different one. Hitting the ball is not easy on this surface. The entire team together put up a total of 171. It’s not that easy, there are problems for the batsmen here.”

It was difficult for Rohit Sharma as he lost the toss and had to come out to bat – Rashid Latif

On the other hand, India captain Rohit Sharma played a stupendous innings. The captain led from the front and played a sensational innings of 57 runs. He was one of the main reasons behind the team’s victory as they won the game by 68 runs.

Rashid Latif pointed out that Rohit Sharma batted brilliantly in difficult circumstances. He claimed that the Indian batsman was not allowed to bat freely due to weather conditions and that period was difficult for the batsmen. He added:

“It was difficult for Rohit Sharma because he lost the toss and had to come out to bat. Virat Kohli was sent off and rain stopped the game. That period is very bad. Waiting for the umpires, watching the soaked supers in action and then going out to bat. bat again.”

India will now be in action when they take on South Africa in the final of the T20 World Cup 2024. The match will be played on June 29 in Barbados.
