Young Indian spinner Ravi Bishnoi achieved an important milestone during the fifth and final T20I against Australia in the just-concluded series. Bishnoi equaled veteran Ravichandran Ashwin’s record of claiming the most wickets in a home bilateral T20I series.

India cruised to a six-run victory in the final T20I at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Sunday, December 3. The home team posted a total of 160/8 after being asked to bat first. In response, they successfully defended their score, limiting the Australian team to 154/8.

Ravi Bishnoi He played a crucial role in the final game, taking two wickets for 29 runs in his four-over quota. The right leg-spinner dismissed Travis Head and Aaron Hardie in the match. He was named Player of the Tournament for his performances throughout the series.

Bishnoi not only played economically throughout the series but also provided crucial breakthroughs when the team needed them the most. The wrist-spinner finished as the highest wicket-taker in the series, taking nine wickets at a decent economy rate of 8.20.

The 23-year-old equaled Ravichandran Ashwin’s record for most wickets in a bilateral T20I series by an Indian spinner. Ashwin had achieved this feat by taking nine wickets in a T20I series against Sri Lanka in 2016. He managed to equal this record in just 10 months of his T20I debut.

The Rajasthan-born cricketer also became the first Indian player to secure at least one wicket in 10 consecutive T20 Internationals. Before his outstanding performances against Australia, he played a pivotal role in India’s gold medal triumph at the 2023 Asian Games.

Bishnoi has emerged as a strong contender for a place in the full-strength Indian XI for the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 in June. He got a place in the T20I team for the upcoming tour of South Africa. He was picked ahead of Yuzvendra Chahal for India’s next T20I assignment.
