Veteran Indian spinner Ravichandran Ashwin created history during the fourth Test against England in Ranchi. Ravichandran Ashwin became the first Indian bowler to take 100 wickets against England in Test cricket, marking a significant achievement in his career.
The Rohit Sharma-led team is currently taking on the England team at the JSCA International Stadium Complex in Ranchi. The visiting team chose to bat first after winning the toss. However, it backfired on them as they finished the first session with a score of 112/5.
Ravichandran Ashwin claims 100 Test wickets against England
Ravichandran Ashwin, playing his 99th Test, claimed English batsman Jonny Bairstow for his first wicket of the match. Bairstow, who scored a 35-ball 38 with four boundaries and a six, was initially declared not out but India successfully reviewed the decision.
After the dismissal of Jonny Bairstow On Day 1 of the match, the Tamil Nadu-born cricketer achieved an important milestone. The player completed his 100th Test wicket in just 23 matches against England, becoming the only Indian bowler to achieve this feat.

Akash Deep attacks three times in the first session of day 1
Debutant Akash Deep broke through England’s top order in the opening session of the fourth Test on Friday, February 23. Akash Deep dismissed in-form batsman Ben Duckett to claim his first international wicket. He picked up the wicket of Ollie Pope (0) in the same over.
The debutant continued his impressive performance by breaking the defense of opener Zak Crawley, dismissing him in the 12th innings. Crawley, who had been scoring on a 42-run run-a-ball, was the victim of a well-executed backer in the first innings.
It is worth mentioning that in the fourth over, Akash dismantled Crawley’s stump with an excellent delivery. However, the excitement was short-lived as the bowler overstepped, resulting in a no-ball decision by the third umpire. Crawley failed to take advantage of the opportunity.
Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja claimed the wicket of England captain Ben Stokes, who managed just three runs. England found themselves in a challenging position, with the scoreboard showing 112-5 in 24.1 overs before the opening day lunch break.
