Indian national cricket team all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja has achieved a great feat in Test cricket for the team. The left-arm spinner became the seventh player from the country to pick 300 wickets in the longest format of the game, joining the likes of Ravichandran Ashwin, Anil Kumble, Kapil Dev, Harbhajan Singh and others.
Ravindra Jadeja achieved the feat in the ongoing second Test against the Bangladesh national cricket team. The last match of the two-match Test series between the teams will take place at Green Park in Kanpur.
Ravindra Jadeja completed 300 wickets when he removed Bangladesh bowler Khaled Ahmed in his 10th over of the first innings. The all-rounder removed the batsman through a catch and a dismissal and also made sure to end the opposition’s innings in the second session of Day 4.
Jadeja has been an incredible servant to the Indian national cricket team for the last decade. The all-rounder has been one of the main reasons for the team’s dominance in the longest format, both at home and abroad, with both bat and ball.
Ravindra Jadeja also became the first Indian left-arm spinner to achieve the feat. The all-rounder achieved the feat in his 74th Test match and did so with an average of 23.98 and a strike rate of 58.10. The left-hander also has 3122 Tests at 36.72 with four hundred and 21 half-centuries.
Jadeja also became the fourth-fastest Indian to 300 wickets in the longest format of the game. He is behind Ravichandran Ashwin (54 matches), Anil Kumble (66 matches) and Harbhajan Singh (72 matches). Overall, he became the 38th player in the history of the longest format to surpass the milestone.
Ravindra Jadeja completes the double of 3000 runs and 300 wickets in Test cricket and becomes the second fastest to achieve the feat.
Not only this, Ravindra Jadeja also entered the elite list of all-rounders who have double 3000 runs and 300 wickets. He became the second fastest behind the legendary Ian Botham, who got there in 72 trials, and the fastest Asian to achieve the elite feat. He is far ahead of Kapil Dev (88) and Ravichandran Ashwin (88) in the list.
