RCB Legend gives his verdict on Rohit Sharma’s possible move to RCB in IPL 2025

Some reports claim that Rohit could move to Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in IPL 2025 and could also become their leader for the upcoming seasons.

Rohit Sharma’s future with Mumbai Indians (MI) has been a major topic of conversation ever since the retention rules for the IPL 2025 auction were announced. Last year, MI dropped its most successful IPL captain from the position of captaincy in a strange way to accommodate Hardik Pandya as the leader.

The entire captaincy exchange scenario was not smooth enough and reports of divisions within the dressing room were rife throughout IPL 2024. Some on-field events, such as Hardik asking Rohit to go to the boundary during the fielding, they attracted a lot of attention.

Therefore, there have been huge speculations that Rohit could leave the franchise before the next season. He might not be happy with the way things changed within the camp and he might as well be the captain of any other team he goes to.

Some reports claim that Rohit could move to Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in IPL 2025 and could also become their leader for the upcoming seasons. If this happens, the move will be the largest ever made in league history.

AB de Villiers gives his verdict on Rohit Sharma’s move to RCB

Referring to Rohit’s conversation with Abhishek Nayar, where his comments were seen to suggest that his stint with MI was coming to an end, AB de Villiers stated that he laughed at that statement. On his YouTube channel, he said that Rohit’s move to RCB will be more important than Hardik’s return to MI.

“I almost laughed at Rohit’s comment. It would be quite a story if Rohit moves from Mumbai Indians to RCB. Wow! Imagine the headlines. It will be bigger than Hardik Pandya’s move. He moved from Gujarat Titans to Mumbai, which though was not a big surprise. But if Rohit moves out of Mumbai to join his rivals in RCB… Oh my goodness! I don’t think there is an option there. I don’t see the possibility of MI leaving Rohit. “I’ll give it zero or 0.1 percent chance.”

Rohit Sharma has been an integral member of MI for several years now. He has led them to five IPL titles and is the league’s joint most successful leader.

Perhaps the captaincy swap with Pandya could have been handled better, because things happened too quickly. It will be interesting to see if MI manages to retain Rohit or let him go in the mega auction because they have a lot of quality options in the team.
