Star Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) batsman Virat Kohli has selected four players to form the best five-player street cricket team. Virat Kohli overlooked legendary cricketers like MS Dhoni and Rohit Sharma while he made his picks for the Gully cricket team.
Virat Kohli has excelled for RCB in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. The right-handed batsman has scored 661 runs in 13 matches at an impressive average of 66.10 and a strike rate of 155.16. He has smashed five fifties and one century in the season.
The 35-year-old is the leading run-getter in the ongoing tournament. He managed to silence his critics, who questioned his strike rate. The next time we will see him in action will be RCB’s match against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in Bengaluru on Saturday, May 18.

During a light-hearted chat with Jio Cinema, RCB’s star batsman was asked to pick the ‘best side in street cricket’. Virat Kohli had to pick four players, which included a wicketkeeper, a bowler and a batsman.
The Indian batting legend quickly picked his former Royal Challengers Bengaluru teammate AB de Villiers as the wicketkeeper-batsman. Kohli selected India spearhead Jasprit Bumrah as the specialist fast bowler for his side.
Virat Kohli opted for Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) star Andre Russell as his team’s all-rounder. The Delhi-born cricketer included Afghanistan’s star player Rashid Khan in the lineup to add variety to the bowling attack.
“You choose four players to form the best street cricket team with you. You must keep at least 1 wicketkeeper, 1 batsman and 1 bowler,” asks the host.
“Next to me, the wicketkeeper-batsman would be, in my opinion, AB de Villiers. There will be Jasprit Bumrah. That makes three. There will be Andre Russell. That makes four. And there will be Rashid Khan. That makes five.” Kohli said.
Virat Kohli plays crucial role in RCB’s recent success
Virat Kohli played a crucial role in RCB’s sudden improvement in performance during the latter part of the tournament. The former RCB captain was the driving force behind RCB’s resurgence, particularly after the team struggled with just one win in its first eight matches.
The team led by Faf du Plessis achieved five consecutive victories after suffering six consecutive defeats. They are still in the race for a fourth playoff spot. If RCB wins by a margin of 18 runs or manages to chase the target in 18.1 overs, they secure a place in the top 4 of the table.
