Royal Challengers Bengaluru, on Saturday (May 18), created history by becoming the first team to hit 150 sixes in a T20 tournament, including the Indian Premier League (IPL). The Bengaluru-based team achieved the feat during the match against Chennai Super Kings at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.
The record for most sixes in an IPL season was previously held by Chennai Super Kings, who had hit 145 sixes in 2018. The record was broken this season by Sunrisers Hyderabad, who have hit 146 sixes so far and can become the second team after RCB in reached 150 sixes in a season. RCB, on Saturday, surpassed SRH in the sixes and created history by becoming the first team to hit 150 sixes in a season.
In the first match of the season, RCB hit 6 sixes against CSK before hitting six more against Punjab Kings. In the third and fourth games, they hit 11 and 8 sixes respectively. In the fifth game against Rajasthan Royals, the Bengaluru-based team hit six sixes. 11 sixes against Mumbai Indians followed before they smashed 16 sixes against SRH, albeit in a losing cause.
In their next game, RCB hit 17 sixes against Kolkata Knight Riders before hitting eight sixes against SRH. RCB then hit 16 and 8 sixes in consecutive games against Gujarat Titans. He followed it up with 16 sixes against PBKS before hitting 11 sixes against Delhi Capitals. In their last league match, the Faf du Plessis-led team hit 16 sixes against CSK. In total, they have hit 157 sixes so far.

RCB posts huge total:
Talking about the game between RCB and CSK, the former posted a massive total of 218 for 5 in 20 overs after being asked to bat. Captain Faf du Plessis led from the front and scored 54, while the likes of Virat Kohli (47), Rajat Patidar (41) and Cameron Green (39*) also made crucial cameos.
In reply, CSK were 64 for 2 after 7 overs at the time of writing this report. CSK needs to score at least 201 runs to qualify for the playoffs. On the other hand, RCB can make it to the playoffs if they limit CSK to less than 201.
