RCB vs CSK: Virat Kohli writes history and becomes the first player to achieve this incredible feat in IPL

Virat Kohli, on Saturday (May 18), added another feather to his illustrious cap, achieving the feat in the ongoing match between Chennai Super Kings and Royal Challengers Bengaluru at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium.

He became the first player to reach 3000 runs in the IPL at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium. Virat Kohli completed 3000 runs at the venue after reaching 12 runs, achieving the big milestone in style by hitting Tushar Deshpande for six.

He has become the first player to score 3000 runs in a single venue in the IPL. So far, no player has even managed to reach the 2500 run mark at an IPL venue.

Rohit Sharma is second on the list with 2295 runs. Apart from Virat Kohli, Rohit is the only other batsman to score 2000 runs at an IPL venue. Rohit has scored 2295 runs at the Wankhede stadium. Former RCB batsman AB de Villiers is third on the list for scoring 1960 runs at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium.

Most races take place at an IPL venue

  • 3005* V Kohli at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium
  • 2295 Rohit Sharma at Wankhede Stadium
  • 1960 AB de Villiers at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium

Kohli has been playing for the same team since the first season of the tournament. No player has played for the same team for so long in the IPL. MS Dhoni has been playing for Chennai Super Kings since 2008 but had to play for Rising Pune Supergiant for two years when the Chennai-based team was suspended.

Kohli has been in impressive form in the ongoing IPL 2024. He is the competition’s leading run-scorer. In 13 games before the current match, he scored 661 runs with the help of a century and five and a half centuries. With Kohli in impressive form, RCB will be hoping their former captain will guide them to a big total in the must-win clash against CSK.

RCB starts strongly:

At the time of writing this report, RCB were at 60 without loss after eight overs. RCB were 31 for 0 after 3 overs before rain halted the action for a while. After the restart, RCB found it difficult to bat with the same momentum and will hope to regain it soon.
