RCB vs CSK: Watch – Maheesh Theekshana accused of ‘blatant throwing’ by fans

Chennai Super Kings player Maheesh Theekshana has been accused of throwing himself during the ongoing match against Royal Challengers Bengaluru at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium.

Playing just his fifth game of the ongoing IPL 2024, Maheesh Theekshana made a huge impact with the ball. While he failed to pick any wickets in the game, he conceded only 25 runs in his four overs. After RCB reached 31 after just 3 overs, he put up a brilliant 4th over, conceding just four runs.

He also bowled the last over of the powerplay and did a brilliant job again by allowing just 5 runs. He conceded 10 runs in the third over but bounced back in style by conceding just six runs in his last over. But more than his performance, the Sri Lankan star is grabbing attention for his bowling action against RCB.

The right arm spinner came up with a different bowling action to outsmart the batsmen. Fans have compared his new action with the bowling action of Kolkata Knight Riders star Sunil Narine, who had to change his bowling action after being informed by the umpires.

In fact, Maheesh Theekshana was seen changing his release point before delivering the ball on several occasions. And though RCB umpires or batsmen did not complain about the action, fans were quick to hit the spinner for the same. Several fans took to X (formerly Twitter) to accuse the spinner of bowling.

RCB posts grand total:

Talking about the game, RCB posted a grand total of 218 for 5 in the allotted 20 overs after being asked to bat first. Captain Faf du Plessis was his team’s top scorer, scoring 54 runs off 39 balls with the help of three fours and as many sixes. The in-form Virat Kohli also played a crucial knock of 47 before the likes of Rajat Patidar (41) and Cameron Green (38*) made useful contributions.
