Saurav Chauhan did not play in the first match but later appeared in three matches for RCB in IPL 2024.

Saurav Chauhan, who plays for Royal Challengers Bangalore, shared an interesting story in a podcast with Ishan Joshi about meeting MS Dhoni for the first time during IPL 2024. After RCB’s season opener against CSK at Chepauk, where RCB lost , Saurav and some teammates I went to meet Dhoni, a dream moment for many young players.

It has now become a routine for young players to meet their idols after every IPL match and ask them for some advice.

Speaking on a podcast, Saurav said that when he asked Dhoni to sign on the back of his jersey, he accidentally gave him a marker that didn’t work.

“I wanted MS Dhoni’s autograph on the back of my jersey. He asked me to bring a marker so he could sign. I ran to grab a marker and there were two markers, one open and one closed. I was in a hurry, so I grabbed the open one, which didn’t work, and gave it to him. “

Dhoni tried to sign with the marker, but it didn’t work. He joked about the quality of the score and before Saurav could get another score, Dhoni went himself and took another score.

‘Kya sasta marker le kar aa gaya hai tu yaha pe, chal bhi nahi raha.’ (Where did you get this cheap marker? It doesn’t even work.) Then, before I left to change the score, Dhoni himself went to get the other score and gave me his autograph,” Saurav added.

I didn’t feel like I was talking to MS Dhoni. he was so humble

Saurav in the same podcast also shared that they had to wait for around 15 minutes to meet Dhoni as he was busy. However, when Dhoni arrived, he greeted everyone warmly and treated them with kindness and humility. Saurav and other teammates wanted to click pictures and also got some batting tips from the legend.

“I waited 15 to 20 minutes to meet him. Actually, he had come in and I was waiting outside with other RCB youngsters. So, we told the officials that we wanted to take pictures with him. They told us to wait for 10 minutes because it was busy,” Chauhan said.

“Then we went in and talked to him. At that moment, I didn’t feel like I was talking to MS Dhoni. He was so humble. “I learned some batting tips from him,” he added.

Saurav Chauhan did not play in the first match, but later appeared in three matches for RCB, scoring 18 runs.
