Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) spent a staggering amount of INR 11 crore to acquire the services of Indian batsman Jitesh Sharma in the Indian Premier League (IPL 2025) mega auction last November.
And Jitesh justified the high price ahead of the next edition of IPL with a spectacular display with his bat and glove in the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy (VHT).
Playing for Vidarbha in the semi-final clash against Maharashtra, the 31-year-old scored his first fifty (51 off 33 balls), while hitting at a pace of over 150 to propel his team to a commanding total of 380 for 3 in his allotted 50 overs.
He then contributed behind the wickets by taking a sensational diving catch early in Maharashtra’s chase to remove their captain and dangerous batsman Ruturaj Gaikwad cheaply and give Vidarbha a breakthrough.

Jitesh Sharma’s recent numbers will make RCB management happy
RCB’s latest signing has been in stellar form in the current domestic season, which will definitely make the management happy with their acquisition. In the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (SMAT), the national T20 tournament, Jitesh was Vidarbha’s 4th highest run-scorer with 135 runs in 6 matches at a remarkable strike rate of 225.00, showing his explosive batting ability .
In the current VHT too, Jitesh has put up decent batting numbers in the middle order with 149 runs in five innings, at a healthy average of 37.25.
Jitesh has certainly proven his willingness to claim a place in RCB by playing XI in IPL 2025. His exceptional strike rate highlights his potential as a reliable finisher to close out games effectively, which can make him a key asset for RCB like they once did. They are once again preparing to win their first title.
