Its recent hit will make it a hot commodity and may trigger a bidding war at the mega auction.

A Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) star, who was not signed by the franchise ahead of the IPL 2025 auction, gave a testament to his sheer mettle with a stellar ton in the ongoing Ranji Trophy match between Mumbai and Odisha.

The coup will play a major role in raising its shares for the mega auction, scheduled to be held in Jeddah on November 24-25.

Shreyas Iyer, who led KKR to their third IPL title earlier this year, hit his ton today off just 101 balls, including 14 boundaries and two sixes. Notably, this was his second consecutive ton this season, hitting his first (142) against Maharashtra last month.

Surprisingly, Shreyas Iyer was not signed by the Kolkata team before the retention deadline as both sides failed to reach a mutual agreement.

However, Shreyas’ recent knock will make him a hot commodity and spark a bidding war, with quite a few franchises expected to chase him in search of an Indian player who can take up captaincy duties.

Shreyas Iyer’s socialite will send a strong message to the selectors

Shreyas Iyer has also been out of the Indian Test team for some time. He last played during the England Test series earlier this year and then did not feature in the BCCI’s list of centrally contracted players.

While Shreyas was not picked for the Australian Tests or the India A team that followed the senior team against Australia A, he appears motivated to continue his scoring spree in a bid to force his way back into the Indian Test team. If he can maintain the momentum, his domestic performance will definitely send a strong message to the selectors, making it difficult for them to ignore him.
