England Test captain Ben Stokes has shared a positive update on his knee ahead of the Test series against India. He mentioned that his rehabilitation after surgery is going well and that he is on the right track.
Ben Stokes underwent knee surgery after the ICC World Cup 2023. The all-rounder’s left knee has been bothering him a lot for a few years now and is forcing him to bowl less. However, he finally underwent treatment and achieved everything before the important Test series against India.
Ben Stokes underwent successful surgery on November 29 and has been in rehab ever since. He recently shared an update on his knee and he’s back in the gym. The all-rounder shared his post-operative experience and stated that the first two weeks after the operation were dedicated to applying ice to reduce swelling.
Ben Stokes was hoping to be in a good position over the next two weeks. On his Instagram account, he explained:
“2 weeks after knee surgery. The first 2 weeks were just relentless icing to bring down the swelling and very small amounts of exercises to keep my knee moving. It’s great to be able to start working in the gym, hoping for good progression over the next 2 weeks. The rehabilitation has gone very well.”
Ben Stokes is expected to be fully fit ahead of the Test series against India. However, the all-rounder will most likely not bowl in the Test series. The all-rounder also played only as a batsman in the 2023 ICC World Cup.
Ben Stokes also recently retired from IPL 2024. He was acquired by Chennai Super Kings for INR 16.25 crore ahead of IPL 2023. However, to take into account his workload ahead of T20 World Cup 2024 , chose not to participate in the tournament. .
