The embattled Mumbai Indians (MI) will take on the Delhi Capitals (DC) in the 20th match of the ongoing Indian Premier League 2024 (IPL). The MI vs DC match will be played at the iconic Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
Both teams have had a disastrous start to their IPL 2024 campaign and will be desperate to win today’s match. MI are currently languishing at the bottom of the points table with three defeats in a row. The five-time champions are the only team yet to win a game this season.
In their last match, they suffered a crushing six-wicket defeat against Rajasthan Royals at home. The Hardik Pandya-led team could only score 125/9 in 20 overs and lost the game.
DC’s situation is not very promising either. The Rishabh-Pant-led team is languishing at ninth place in the points table with just one win in their first four games. DC come into this game after a crushing defeat at the hands of Kolkata Knight Riders. KKR amassed 272/7 against DC before bowling them out for 166 to win the game by 106 runs.
MI vs DC: Impact players
DC won the toss and opted to play first. Speaking during the launch, DC captain Rishabh Pant said, “Let’s bowl first. The wicket looks good but you can chase any target here at Wankhede. We will have to stick together as a team. I am happy to be back. “It’s a pleasure to be on the field in each and every game. Bowling is a department we have been in and out of, but it is difficult for them in T20s. “Just two changes for us.”
MI captain Suryakumar Yadav said: “We would have also bowled first, but batting first is also not a problem, this wicket seems a little drier. The ball may not come out well like in a night game. But there will be less swing and It should be good to hit.
“We don’t want to put pressure on ourselves, but a victory will give us a lot of confidence. Almost 18,000 young people support us today, we are here to represent them and we want them to return home with a smile. “Three changes for us: Surya is back, he replaces Naman. Romario replaces Mapakha and Nabi replaces Brevis,” he added.
