Indian National Cricket Team batsman Rinku Singh has been called up again by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) for the 2024 Duleep Trophy. As per reports in RevSportz, it has been learnt that the left-hander will join the India B team for the remainder of the tournament.
When the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced the squads for the 2024 Duleep Trophy, Rinku Singh’s absence came as a big surprise to many. This is because the left-hander has been one of the most exciting players in Indian cricket and his absence from any of the squads raised many eyebrows.
Rinku Singh, after his snub, was asked about his omission and while answering this, he was honest and admitted that he did not play well in the 2023-24 Ranji Trophy, and that is why he was not selected for the 2024 Duleep Trophy. In three games in Uttar Pradesh scored 128 runs at 42.66 with just one fifty.

Rinku Singh has been called up to India B squad as the Indian team members will be leaving the 2024 Duleep Trophy to prepare for the Test series against the Bangladesh National Cricket Team. The players have been asked to assemble in Chennai. September 12th to prepare for the first match, which Starts on September 19th.
The tastes of Yashasvi Jaiswal, Sarfaraz Khan and Rishabh Pant are likely to be part of India’s starting XI for the Bangladesh Tests. Thus, it will leave a vacant spot in India’s B team and hence Rinku Singh has been called up to the squad for the remainder of the tournament.
The upcoming second round of the Duleep Trophy 2024, which will commence September 12thIt will be a great opportunity for Rinku Singh to make an impact and prove his worth with the bat. Overall, the Uttar Pradesh batsman has a stellar first-class record, averaging 54.70 in 47 first-class matches.
India B started the Duleep Trophy 2024 with a bang. They thrashed India A by 76 runs. It was a sensational effort from them as after being asked to bat first, they staggered to 94/7. After that, Musheer Khan (181) played a stupendous knock and along with Navdeep Saini (56) took the team to 321 runs.
India B then bowled out India A for 231 runs and riding on the knocks of Rishabh Pant (61) and Sarfaraz Ahmed (46), they set themselves a target of 275 runs to chase. With the ball, then, they did not allow the opposition to go beyond 200 runs and won the game by 76 runs to bag the all-important 6 points.
India A captain Shubman Gill spoke about the defeat and admitted that Musheer Khan and Navdeep Saini took the match away from them. He claimed that if they had put together a 100-run partnership, they could have won the match. Speaking after the match, he explained:
“Musheer and Saini bowled very well. Seeing that there was not much movement from the wicket, we could have resorted to the bouncer option for Saini earlier. Looking back, different things can be pointed out. “But we went with the option that seemed best to us. The intensity with which we bowled in the second innings was commendable. Till lunchtime we were talking about whether if we managed a 100-run partnership we could have achieved the target,” he concluded.
