Team India’s wicketkeeper batsman Rishabh Pant broke legendary cricketer MS Dhoni’s record during the second innings of the first Test against New Zealand. Pant has become the fastest Indian batsman to complete 2500 runs in the longest format of international cricket.
On Day 2, Pant left the field after taking a blow to his right knee during New Zealand’s first innings at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. He was hit in the same leg on which he had previously had surgery. Dhruv Jurel kept the wickets for the rest of New Zealand’s innings.

The left-handed batsman came to bat at number 5 alongside Sarfaraz on the morning of the fourth day of the match. He became the fastest Indian batsman to complete 2500 runs in Test cricket. Pant surpassed MS Dhoni, who did it in 69 innings. Farokh Engineer completed the feat in 82 innings.

Rishabh Pant hits his 12th Test fifty off just 55 balls
India resumed Day 4 at 231/3, losing by 125 runs. Rishabh Pant and Sarfaraz Khan reduced the deficit and helped the team take the lead over New Zealand. The pants seemed comfortable in the stripe despite a knee injury. The southpaw started his innings with a cautious approach before starting to accelerate.
The 26-year-old batsman reached his 12th fifty in Test cricket off just 55 balls. He reached the milestone with a sumptuous coverage against Glenn Phillips. He added a 100-run plus partnership with Sarfaraz Khan in quick time, helping India recover and overcome New Zealand’s lead in the first innings of the game.
Pant has a chance to convert this fifty century into a seventh century in Test cricket. Early in the match, the keeper-batsman scored 20 runs in India’s first innings, where the team was bowled out for 46, their lowest total at home and the third-lowest overall in the history of international red-ball cricket. .
