Indian wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant has revealed the gesture he made towards Rohit Sharma during the toss during the Indian Premier League match between Mumbai Indians and Delhi Capitals. He explained that he was trying to take a dig at his senior Indian teammate.
Indian wicketkeeper and batsman Rishabh Pant is one of the most entertaining characters in the Indian team. The left-hander has always been the one who has kept things light on and off the field, both for India and the cricket franchise.
Rishabh Pant shares a great camaraderie with all his Indian teammates, but he has a special bond with captain Rohit Sharma. The two have often been seen having fun both on and off the field as they are often spotted together.
Even captain Rohit Sharma also recently spoke about his bond with Rishabh Pant. The Indian captain claimed that whenever he wants to have a laugh, he talks to the wicketkeeper-batsman because he always makes him feel good and makes him feel light.
During an interaction on his YouTube channel, Rishabh Pant was asked about an IPL picture in which he was touching Rohit Sharma’s belly at the time of the toss. The post was uploaded by the wicketkeeper-batsman on his birthday in 2021.
Explaining the picture, Rishabh Pant claimed that he was trying to have fun with Rohit Sharma as he tried to make fun of him. In a video posted on his YouTube channel, he explained:

Rohit Sharma and Rishabh Pant will be seen in action together during Sri Lanka ODIs
India captain Rohit Sharma and Rishabh Pant will be seen in action together during the Sri Lanka ODIs. The Indian team is currently playing the three-match T20I series against the island nation and the wicketkeeper-batsman is a part of the squad.
Rishabh Pant played a vital innings in the first match against Sri Lanka. The wicketkeeper-batsman played an innings of 49 runs in the first match and helped his team win the match. In the second match, he remained unbeaten and led the team to win the series.
On the other hand, Rohit Sharma has joined the Indian squad for the ODI series against Sri Lanka. The series between the teams will be held from August 2. Rohit will lead the team while Pant has been named as the team’s wicketkeeper along with KL Rahul.
This will be the first time that Rishabh Pant will play the ODIs since he faced the horrific accident in 2022. The wicketkeeper-batsman has so far featured in T20Is and was also a part of the 2024 T20 World Cup-winning squad.
With KL Rahul also in the squad, it remains to be seen whether Rishabh Pant will be in the starting XI or not. The right-back will probably be preferred as he was the team’s wicket-keeper in the 2023 ICC World Cup.
