On Thursday, December 4, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced the esteemed members of the Women’s Premier League (WPL) committee. The committee will play a key role in taking the competition to new heights in the coming years.
The Women’s Premier League (WPL) is a women’s T20 league owned and operated by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). The first season of the league was held in 2023 and Mumbai Indians won the inaugural season by defeating Delhi Capitals in the final.
Ahead of the second season of the WPL, the BCCI has formed a committee that will be responsible for helping the league reach new heights. The committee consists of big names like Roger Binny and Jay Shah.
“This committee brings wealth of experience, passion for women’s sports and a shared commitment to promoting excellence in women’s cricket,” the BCCI said.

The BCCI further said that the esteemed committee members of the Women’s Premier League (WPL) are excited to contribute to the growth of the league.
“The committee comes from diverse backgrounds and the BCCI believes that their collective experience and passion for promoting women’s cricket make them an invaluable asset to the Women’s Premier League,” the BCCI said.
“The committee members are excited about the opportunity to contribute to the growth and success of the Women’s Premier League. “They look forward to collaborating with stakeholders, players and fans to create a vibrant and competitive environment that showcases the immense talent of women’s cricket.”
Meanwhile, the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2024 auction will take place on December 9 in Mumbai. A total of 165 cricketers will participate in the auction, of which 104 are Indians and 61 are foreign cricketers, among whom 15 are from Associated Nations.
WPL 2024, which will be the second edition of the T20 competition, will reportedly be played in Bengaluru and Mumbai starting in February.
Furthermore, in the first season of the competition, the teams had a purse of INR 12 crore for the auction. However, this time there will be a slight increase in the purse as the teams will receive an additional INR 1.5 crore to acquire the services of the players.
