Mohammed Shami is a prominent fast-pacer of the Indian team and has been a regular member in all three formats. He has played many matches under the leadership of captain Rohit Sharma.
In recent years, Shami, Mohammed Siraj and Jasprit Bumrah have dominated world cricket and attacked batsmen across the globe.
Interestingly, Mohammed Shami also participated in the 2023 Asia Cup last year and helped India win the title by crushing Sri Lanka in the final.
Later, he also did an impeccable job in the 2023 ICC ODI World Cup with Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj. India finished as runners-up and dominated all other teams till the final, where they lost to Australia.

Rohit Sharma doesn’t like to face me on social media: Mohammed Shami reveals secrets
During a talk show with journalist Shubhankar Mishra, Mohammed Shami revealed that all Indian players are scared to face him in the nets. Shami also added that Indian captain Sharma does not like to face him in the nets.
“I have a healthy competition with Virat Kohli. We like to challenge each other. He likes to hit me and I like to dismiss him. So there is a friendship and bond with Virat Kohli,” the Indian pacer said in Hindi.
“It takes effort and it increases our concentration and interest. And we enjoy those things. But Rohit Sharma also refuses to face me. He always says, ‘I don’t want to face him,'” he added.

It is noteworthy that Mohammed Shami has been out of action for almost 8 months now. The right-handed bowler has not returned to the field since he participated in the ICC ODI World Cup 2023.
Due to injuries, Shami missed the India vs Afghanistan series, IPL 2024, and also the ICC T20 World Cup 2024. He was part of Gujarat Titans in the IPL 2024 and as he could not be part of the tournament, he was not considered for selection in the T20 World Cup.
He was also undergoing rehabilitation during that period. Jasprit Bumrah, Arshdeep Singh and Mohammed Siraj were the three key players for Team India in the World Cup.
India won the T20 World Cup in June in the absence of Mohammed Shami
It is noteworthy that Rohit Sharma and Co. won the title by defeating South Africa in the final last month. It was a huge achievement for the West Indies team as they had lost the 2023 ODI World Cup final last year in November at home.
Mohammed Shami showed impressive form in that tournament by picking up five wickets on multiple occasions. In the semi-final, he picked up seven wickets against New Zealand to record the best-ever performance by an Indian player in an ODI. However, the Indian bowlers could not strike Australia in the final.
