Team India, on Saturday (June 22), beat Bangladesh by 50 runs in their Super 8 game of the ongoing ICC T20 World Cup 2024. The victory put India in a strong position to qualify for the semi-final.
The Men in Blue’s place in the semi-final could be confirmed on Sunday (June 23) if Australia beat Afghanistan. India completely dominated the match against Bangladesh to extend their unbeaten run in the ninth edition of the T20 World Cup.
Asked to bat first, India finished their innings at 196 for 5 to record their highest total of the ongoing T20 World Cup. Hardik Pandya starred with the bat for India, scoring an unbeaten 50 off 27 balls with the help of four fours and three sixes.
In response, Bangladesh finished their innings with 146 for 8. Captain Najmul Hossain Shanto was his team’s top scorer, scoring 40 runs. For India, Kuldeep Yadav was the pick of the bowlers, taking 3 wickets, while Arshdeep Singh and Jasprit Bumrah took 2 wickets each.
Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma touch 7500 runs mark:
While Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli could not score much in the game, they managed to improve their record in the list of India’s most successful partnerships. The current Indian captain and his predecessor have become the fourth Indian pair to reach the 7,500-run mark in international cricket.
The first Indian couple to achieve the feat is the legendary duo of Sachin Tendulkar and Sourav Ganguly. They scored a total of 12400 runs together for the international cricket team. Tendulkar and Rahul Dravid are second in the list with 11037 runs, while Ganguly and Dravid are third with 7626 runs.

Meanwhile, Team India will take on Australia in their final Super 8 match. The game is scheduled to take place on Monday (June 24). Barring the match against Canada which was abandoned, India has won all its matches in the competition so far and will look to extend its winning streak against Australia as well. Team India has not won the T20 World Cup since 2007 and will be desperate to go all the way this year.
