It was such a beautiful delivery from Southee, who was precise with his lines and lengths from the first delivery of the innings.
Tim Southee dismissed Indian captain Rohit Sharma with an unplayable delivery on the sixth delivery of the third over in Pune. He didn’t have any significant movement, but the ball deflected enough to beat Rohit’s outside edge.
Southee bowled a long delivery on middle and outside the line of stump, which Rohit tried to defend from the crease. However, the ball moved away very late after hitting the ground and passed the batsman’s defense to rattle the stumps.
It was such a beautiful delivery from Southee, who was precise with his lines and lengths from the first delivery of the innings. Rohit probably played for an incoming delivery, so he didn’t cover the stumps completely, but Southee is a smart operator and he gauged it right away.

Therefore, he decided to cut the ball and faced Rohit, who has had so many good deliveries early in the innings during this home Test season. India ends the day at 16/1 after lumping New Zealand on 259
After winning the toss, New Zealand opted to bat first and the decision seemed right at one point. While they lost Tom Latham in the eighth over, other batsmen started, with Devon Conway (76) again looking solid in the middle.
At one point, New Zealand were going strong at 197/3 and looked set to post another big total for India. However, Washington Sundar undid his magic and took seven wickets to bundle New Zealand out for just 259 when they should have posted much more than they finished.
Later during India’s innings, Rohit Sharma couldn’t contribute much with the willow but Yashasvi Jaiswal (6) and Shubman Gill (10) saw the day for India. They would hope to expand this partnership and put India in a dominant position.
Meanwhile, Rohit hopes to overcome these low scores and score a big one in his next outing. You’ll also need some luck to continue on your way.
