The officials then appointed Suryakumar Yadav as captain. The batsman led India to a 4-1 victory in the recently concluded T20I series against Australia.
Rohit Sharma will take charge of the Test series team. India will play a two-match series against South Africa starting December 26. The second match will be played on January 3.
