Rohit Sharma makes ‘I don’t want to talk about Yashasvi Jaiswal’ statement after Rajkot Test win

It was a historic victory for Rohit Sharma-led India at the Niranjan Shah Stadium in Rajkot against England. The hosts defeated the Three Lions by 434 runs and recorded the biggest Test victory in cricket history. The visitors scored 122 runs while chasing 557, courtesy of a fifer from Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja. Yashasvi Jaiswal played an important role in the victory and smashed a double hundred.

Indian captain Rohit Sharma was delighted with Team India’s victory and stated that whenever we play Test cricket, the team must be prepared for all five days. Rohit added that England played well and put pressure on the hosts, however, the Indian captain praised the Indian bowlers and stated that they are full of class.

Rohit Sharma opens up about India’s effort in IND vs ENG third test match

Rohit Sharma said: “When you play Test cricket, it is not played for 2-3 days. We understand the importance of playing for 5 days. They played well and put pressure on us. We had class at our bowling alley, the message was to stay calm and I am very proud of how we came back the next day. “When those things happen, it is a pleasure.”

Rohit Sharma also praised debutant Sarfaraz Khan. Rohit said we wanted Sarfaraz to spend time in the crease and the team saw what he could do with the bat. Talking about the batting order, he added that it is a long-term view and they always keep in mind the opposition and their bowling attack. Sharma also gave his opinion on Ravindra Jadeja’s promotion to number five and also how important it was to win the toss.

Rohit Sharma said: “For this game, we thought he had a lot of experience and also a lot of runs, we wanted that left-right combo, Sarfaraz with the quality he has, we wanted him to get time. We saw what he can do with the bat. It’s not a long-term view, we get carried away and go with what we feel on that particular day, looking at the opposition, at the bowling attack. We calculate everything and then we let ourselves go. A lot of turning points, it was a good toss to win, we know how important it is in India to win the toss, the way we came back and bowled after that attack.”

Talking about his bowlers, Rohit Sharma said that they showed a lot of character and highlighted the fact that the team was without its most experienced bowler. He also praised Ravindra Jadeja and his effort with the ball in the second innings. In conclusion, he praised Yashasvi Jaiswal and said that he had spoken a lot about him in the past. He said that Jaiswal has started his career on a high and wants him to do well in the future.

Rohit Sharma said: “The bowlers showed a lot of character, not forgetting that we also did not have our most experienced bowler. With the bat we knew the job was half done, those two youngsters gave us the advantage we wanted and obviously Jadeja with the ball in the second innings was excellent.

“[on Jaiswal] I have talked a lot about him, in Vizag people outside the dressing room have also talked. I don’t want to talk too much about him, he has started his career at the top, I want him to continue doing well, yes, he seems like a good player.”

The fourth Test match of the series will be played at the CEJA stadium in Ranchi.
