Indian national cricket team captain Rohit Sharma is being targeted by several franchises ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. As per reports in RevSports, it is learnt that Delhi Capitals and Lucknow Super Giants are keen to acquire the services of their team’s opening batsman for the league.
Reports claimed that both Delhi Capitals and Lucknow Super Giants reserved the prize money of INR 50 crore only for Rohit Sharma. However, the franchises only want the Indian national cricket team captain to confirm whether he will leave the Mumbai Indians before the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025.
Sharma’s future with Mumbai Indians has been under scrutiny since the last edition of the Indian Premier League. Ahead of the league, the opening batsman was removed as captain of the team and in his place, the franchise appointed Hardik Pandya as the captain.
This raised many eyebrows because Sharma captained Mumbai Indians in five IPL titles in 2013, 2015, 2017, 2019 and 2020. The franchise handed over the responsibility to Hardik Pandya, who was transferred from Gujarat Titans, after having captained the new franchise for two years.
Several rumours surfaced that Sharma was not happy with the treatment he was receiving. There were also reports suggesting that the team management was also not happy with the way the all-rounder was running the team and there was also a split within the team with players arguing over team-related decisions.

Several reports also highlighted that Rohit Sharma wanted to leave Mumbai Indians after the 2024 Indian Premier League. The batsman will reportedly be in the IPL 2025 mega auction. The batsman was also having a conversation with KKR coach Abhishek Nayar on IPL 2024 where he was heard saying that it was his last season with the team as he created the temple.
Apart from this, Sharma has been a legend in the Indian Premier League. If he goes up for auction, there is no doubt that there will be many teams interested in buying him. Not just because of his batting skills but because of the leadership skills that he has. It remains to be seen what the future of the batsman will be in the league.
