In a recent interview, the 26-year-old left-handed batsman of the Indian national cricket team, Rinku Singh, revealed who his favourite captain, bowler and batsman are. He chose only one name for his favourite bowler but then he chose several names when asked to pick his favourite captain and batsman.

Rinku Singh was considered the bright spot for Indian cricket, especially in T20I. Following his exploits with KKR, he was called up to India and repeated his IPL brilliance on the international stage as well and played some sensational innings for the team.

However, his stock has dipped recently as he has not looked at his best. He did not have a great IPL 2024, which led the BCCI selectors to pick Shivam Dube instead of Rinku Singh in the 2024 T20 World Cup squad.

Although India won the tournament, fans made calls throughout the competition to include Rinku in the 15-member main squad. Also, he was not included in any of the Duleep Trophy 2024 squads for the first round.

Meanwhile, in a recent interaction on News24 Sports, Rinku Singh was asked to pick his favourite captain and he named Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli. He first named Rohit and said that he likes the Indian skipper’s captaincy a lot. After that, he also spoke about Kohli and said that he likes the former Indian captain’s aggressive style. Rinku said:

“I like Rohit Bhaiya. I also like Virat Bhaiya because aggression is important for a captain. That’s why I like the captaincy of both players.”

The 26-year-old also said that right-handed bowler Jasprit Bumrah is his favourite at the moment. Notably, Bumrah played a key role in India’s T20 World Cup victory and is currently on an extended break.

I really enjoyed batting with Rohit bhaiya – Rinku Singh

The left-handed batsman also mentioned Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Suresh Raina and Suryakumar Yadav as his favourite batsmen in the world. Rinku Singh said that he loves batting with the Indian national cricket team captain as he is very calm all the time.

“I really enjoyed batting with Rohit Bhaiya. He is very calm and a great person, I had a lot of fun while batting.”

However, Rinku has unfortunately not had the opportunity so far to bat alongside Virat Kohli and the batting dreams will soon come true. Rinku said:

“I have never batted with Virat Kohli Bhaiya, but my dream is to bat alongside him in the match.”

Rinku Singh’s most recent international appearance was in the away T20I series against the Zimbabwe National Cricket Team and the Sri Lanka National Cricket Team. He got a chance to bat in six of the eight matches and did not perform well.

He recorded scores of 0, 48*, 1*, 11, 1 and 1 in six innings. However, he won a game for India with the ball against Sri Lanka when he bowled the 19th over and picked up two wickets to change the momentum of the match.

In total, Rinku has played 23 T20Is for the Indian National Cricket Team and has scored 418 runs at a staggering average of 59.71 and a great strike rate of 174.16.
