Mark Boucher had stated that replacing Rohit Sharma as captain of the franchise was a cricketing decision. Ritika Sajdeh’s cryptic comment on Mark Boucher’s podcast to replace Rohit Sharma as MI captain

Mumbai Indians were able to execute a tremendous transfer deal with the Gujarat Titans in which they brought back all-rounder Hardik Pandya for a whopping INR 15 crores. In return, MI had to release Australian all-rounder Cameron Green. However, soon after Pandya returned to the team, he replaced Rohit as the captain of the team.

Hardik Pandya was released by Mumbai Indians ahead of the 2022 Indian Premier League mega auction and was picked up by Gujarat Titans. Pandya helped GT win the title in their debut season, while they ended up qualifying for the finals in 2023. There were also speculations about a rift between the two players and it was believed that Rohit was unhappy with the MI management’s decision. . . Now, the comment made by Rohit Sharma’s wife on Mark Boucher’s podcast has reopened the debate about the breakup between both players.

While Rohit has led Mumbai Indians to win five Indian Premier League titles, the last three editions have not been attractive for him as the captain of the team. While MI won two consecutive IPL titles in 2019 and 2020, they failed to make the playoffs in 2021 and 2022. On the other hand, MI lost to Gujarat Titans in Qualifier 2 in 2023.

Furthermore, Hardik Pandya performed well with both bat and ball in the last two seasons of the Indian Premier League. Pandya was one of the franchise’s leading run-scorers. Pandya also showed great maturity as team captain and made many brilliant tactical decisions.

However, Rohit Sharma’s contribution as captain of Mumbai Indians cannot be forgotten. Sharma is the second most successful captain in IPL history and has won 87 matches in 158 games. His winning percentage has been 56.32.

Rohit Sharma has also proven to be an exceptional captain of the Indian cricket team. Under Rohit’s leadership, India has also performed brilliantly in bilateral series and ICC events. Rohit also played with a different batting mentality in the ODI World Cup 2023 and scored 597 runs in 16 games. Rohit scored a hundred and also gave the team many offensive outlets and once again put pressure on the opposition.

Mumbai Indians are the most successful in the Indian Premier League along with the Chennai Super Kings.
