Rosemary Mair ruled out of England ODI series with back injury; Molly Penfold called

New Zealand seamer Rosemary Mair has been ruled out of the ODI series against England due to a back injury. Her fellow sailor Molly Penfold has been called in to replace her.

Mair was returning to the national team. He had played all five T20Is, picking up four wickets with an economy of 7.56. But he felt pain in his back while he was training before the first ODI and subsequently missed the match.

He traveled to Hamilton with the team for the second ODI. But when he couldn’t train on Wednesday, he made up his mind.

“We are all gutted for Rosemary as she has been a key member of the team throughout the series against England.” said head coach Ben Sawyer.

“We have a big winter of cricket ahead of us with tours to England and Australia before the T20 World Cup in Bangladesh, so we want to be cautious and give Rosemary enough time to recover and be ready to play again when we leave for England.” .

England led the three-match ODI series, which is part of the ICC Women’s Championship, 1-0.
