Rajasthan Royals left-arm pacer Nandre Burger recently spoke about sledging with former Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) captain Virat Kohli. Nandre Burger said that he would love to take part in a sledging match with Virat Kohli and stated that he enjoys the competitive aspect of cricket.

Rajasthan Royals will take on Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the ‘Eliminator’ match at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Wednesday, May 22. The two teams hope to secure victory in the match they must win to advance to ‘Qualifier 2’. of the Indian Premier League 2024.

Virat Kohli has been in excellent form with the bat in the ongoing tournament. Kohli is the leading run-getter with 708 runs in 14 innings at an average of 64.36 and a strike rate of 155.60. The right-handed batsman has hit one century and five half-centuries, with a best score of 113* against the Royals.

Enjoy the competitive side – Nandre Burger

In a video shared by the Rajasthan Royals, Donovan Ferreira asked Nandre Burger about his experience with sledging batsmen. Burger mentioned that he didn’t have any specific hitters who liked sledding. However, he claimed that participating in a sledging competition with Virat Kohli could be fun.

“I don’t think there’s any specific batsman who liked sledging. I just think I enjoy the competitive side of it. But I think during the India series, people thought that Virat and I had a little something going on, which we actually didn’t. It was like that. There was no sledding there. It was just staring, but I think getting into a little sledding fight with him would be a lot of fun,” Burger said.

Donovan Ferreira humorously responded to his teammate’s plans to sledge Virat Kohli by saying: “I don’t know. Good luck.”

Nandre Burger posed challenges to the visiting batsmen with his pace during India’s tour of South Africa 2022-23. Virat Kohli scored 172 runs in two matches, at an average of 43.00 and a strike rate of 79.63. The visiting team achieved victory in the second Test and managed to tie the series.

Virat Kohli could far surpass his 2016 IPL – Matthew Hayden

Speaking to Star Sports, former Australian opener Matthew Hayden predicted that Virat Kohli could surpass his own record for highest runs scored by a batsman in a single IPL season.

“We are seeing Virat Kohli celebrating his second best season yet. He could far surpass his performance in IPL 2016 in the kind of form he is in. So, more than anything, I think it is the energy and love of the game, the passion, the commitment to everything, all those words that describe words with which you can glorify this great man, whether on the field or with the bat in your hand,” Hayden said.

In IPL 2016, Virat Kohli scored an impressive 973 runs in 16 matches at an average of 81.08. The star batsman needs 266 more runs to surpass his own record. With three matches left for his team, RCB, Kohli has a chance to achieve this milestone if he reaches the final.
