Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) will take on Rajasthan Royals (RR) in the ‘Eliminator’ match of the 2024 Indian Premier League (IPL) season. However, the match between Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Rajasthan Royals has attracted attention due to some activities leading up to the upcoming match.

Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) played the Qualifier 1 match at the Narendra Modi Stadium on Tuesday, May 21. RCB and RR could not use the stadium for training. The two franchises were offered the University Ground in Ahmedabad as an alternative practice venue.

The Sanju Samson-led team trained at the University Ground between 4 and 6 pm, while the Royal Challengers canceled their training session without giving any explanation, creating curiosity among fans. Reports claimed that Virat Kohli received a serious security threat and was the reason for the cancellation of the net session. However, CricketNext confirmed that RCB’s decision was not related to any terrorist threat to Virat Kohli.

According to a CricketNext report, an official of the Gujarat Cricket Association stated that they were not informed about any terrorist threat by RCB and that arrangements were made for both RR and RCB at the University grounds. The official claimed that the RCB training was canceled before the suspects were arrested.

“The RCB did not inform us about any terrorist threat. They canceled the training before the suspects were arrested. We made arrangements for RR and RCB at the University grounds, and RR even trained in the afternoon. Many spectators attended the match in Ahmedabad last night and there is no reason to panic.” says an official of the Gujarat Cricket Association.

Meanwhile, another report in India Today claims that Faf du Plessis & Co.’s practice session was canceled due to excessive heat in the city.

“They changed the schedule initially, it was from 2 to 5, they asked for 4 to 6. We said that until 6:30 there were lights available, which is allowed, not a problem, but the weather was 45+, so they decided not doing the practice. Just for the sake of the players, so that there are no health issues. There was no issue related to any security threat,” a top source at the Ahmedabad stadium told Indiatoday.in.

“We also gave them the option of offering an indoor practice field, but they said they would skip the session due to the heat,” he added.
