Ravichandran Ashwin created history during the second day of play of the third Test between India and England being played at the Niranjan Shah Cricket Stadium in Rajkot. Suryakumar Yadav congratulates Ravichandran Ashwin for reaching an elite club in Test cricket during the third Test of the five-match series between the two nations. Ravichandran Ashwin achieved a big milestone after taking the wicket of Zak Crawley in England’s first innings as he entered the elite list of bowlers.

Ravichandran Ashwin has completed 500 wickets in Test cricket and is the ninth bowler in history to take 500 Test wickets and is only the second Indian to achieve this huge feat. Before Ashwin, only Anil Kumble had taken more than 500 wickets in Test cricket for India. Anil Kumble has 619 wickets to his name in Test cricket. Suryakumar Yadav shared a heartfelt story on his Instagram to congratulate Ashwin and his family on the achievement.

Ravichandran Ashwin has played 98 matches in Test cricket and has taken 500 wickets at an average of 23.95, which is better than Anil Kumble. He has recorded 34 five-wicket hauls in his career, which also includes eight 10-wicket hauls in a match. He is one of the best all-rounders in the game and is currently the No. 3 bowler in the ICC Test rankings and the No. 2 all-rounder. Ravichandran Ashwin made his Test debut against the West Indies in the year 2011 and since then he has been a regular member of the Indian Test team with a really good track record in the subcontinent.

Suryakumar Yadav, who is currently injured and undergoing rehabilitation, shared a story on his Instagram account congratulating Ravichandran Ashwin on his achievement and wrote, “Ash bhai yaar rula diya apke smile ne (Ash brother, your smile made me cry) Congratulations to you and your family.”

Ravichandran Ashwin is now the latest addition to the club of elite bowlers with 500 or more Test wickets, which consists of the likes of Shane Warner, Muttiah Muralitharan, James Anderson, Stuart Broad, Anil Kumble, Glenn McGrath, Courtney Walsh, Nathan Lyon. He is the ninth in the list of bowlers to reach 500 Test wickets and has been brilliant with the ball in Test cricket. Ashwin is also the fifth bowler to reach this milestone.

India and England meet in the third Test match of the five-match series at the Niranjan Shah Cricket Stadium in Rajkot and the series is currently tied 1-1. England won the first Test by defeating India in Hyderabad by 28 runs, but then India made an excellent comeback in the second Test defeating the visitors by 106 runs in Vizag.

India has not lost a test series at home since 2012, when Sir Alastair Cook led the England team to a 2-1 victory against India in India. Since 2012, India have won 16 consecutive Test series at home and will be hoping to win this one against England to make it 17 consecutive home series wins. After the second day’s play, England are 207/2 behind by 238 runs.
