Shubman Gill 5

Shubman Gill finally silenced his critics with a brilliant century during the first Test between India and Bangladesh in Chennai. Gill scored his fifth hundred in the second innings of the Test.

Gill was under enormous pressure after failing in the first innings when he was out for a duck. Many pundits raised doubts about his below-par average in Test cricket and questioned his place ahead of Ruturaj Gaikwad.

Currently, he averages just 35 in Test cricket, compared to his average of 58 in ODIs. The youngster was even called a flat-track bully on social media. But this time, social media was all praise for his brilliant century under pressure.

Brilliant innings by Shubman Gill

It was a very authoritative innings from Shubman Gill, who looked confident against all the bowlers. He did not hesitate to run down the track and smash the bowlers over the boundary. His use of his feet was impeccable, especially against off-spinner Mehidy Hasan Miraz.

His confidence was a pleasure to watch and he looked comfortable against both fast and spin bowlers. He has surely consolidated his No. 3 spot with this knock and will be targeting more hundreds in the upcoming Test season.
